What is the best way of introducing my kids to my girlfriend?

Question by jonnyboy92003: What is the best way of introducing my kids to my girlfriend?
Have been going out for a year and I really want to introduce my kids to my girlfriend, however, I have 3 kids (BBG, 12, 11 & 6) and they are v.close to their Mum and I am worried that its going to be really awkward. I see my children regularly twice a week & have a good relationship with them. I am planning an ice skating session with my gf & the kids as an opening event? Can anyone suggest any pitfalls to avoid? Any good articles or books on this subject?

Answer by Mommy to Be
The 12 and 11 year old should understand without a problem…but the 6 year old might need a little more time to get used to it. If you and the mom have been sperated for some time they might be used to the fact that mom and dad could start to date. (well the older ones at least.)

Just be truthful, whatever you do, and explain that she is not taking mommy’s place in their lives, and that you don’t want that.

What are the very best cardio exercises to lose weight? First off, I don’t necessarily believe that any one physical exercise is greatest. You will find a wide range of cardio exercises to lose weight, but the most beneficial is ultimately the one that you get pleasure from performing consistently, on a standard basis. Sure, some of the exercises below will burn additional calories than others, but by far the most significant factor to me is intensity. Regardless of its numerous benefits, you won’t see walking listed below because it’s not probably the most effective method to lose weight given the lack of intensity. In no certain order, here are a number of the ideal cardio exercises to lose weight.

Sprinting: good old fashion outdoor sprints where you exert as much power as you can. For an increased challenge, perform beach sprints where the instability of the sand will truly work your muscles. If that’s too effortless, begin running up hills.

Jump Rope: an incredible way to get your heart pumping while improving coordination. As soon as you get the coordination down, you could perform a really intense workout.

Kickboxing: take out your aggression on a punching bag. In addition to obtaining a good cardiovascular workout, you’ll most likely increase muscle tone from the resistance the bag provides. You’re also likely to boost core strength from twisting motions involved in punching and kicking.

Roller Skating / Ice Skating / Cross Country Skiing: basic outdoor activities that might not seem like much but can definitely get you winded. Roller skating and ice skating may actually trump sprinting because of the side to side motion needed to get you going. Cross country skiing is a superb approach to add somewhat extra focus on your arms.

Rowing Machine: this will be the most recent toy I’ve been playing with and wow is it tough. It’s a full body workout so you’ll possibly burn additional calories here than in some other exercises. You’ll have to utilize your legs to push off while your back and arms pull the mechanical rowing arms. In addition, there’s a resistance component involved so you’ll create muscle while burning fat.

Swimming: in the event you have access to a pool, swimming is actually a highly effective strategy to lose weight. The added bonus is that it truly is low impact. As opposed to sprinting where your knees may well take a pounding, swimming involves a nice smooth motion while still giving your lungs a workout.

Biking: I typically use biking as part of a steady state routine, but you are able to do some intense intervals also. An upright bike is far more efficient than a recumbent bike for this kind of training.

Stepper: essentially like climbing hills/stairs. Enough stated.

Elliptical: some people today will argue that you can’t perform an intense workout on an elliptical. I’d say it depends upon the type of elliptical. Personally, I’ve a rear drive elliptical that I can instantly accelerate to sprinting speed on. Nevertheless, I’ve tried front drive ellipticals that only permit me to perform steady state cardio. This is a further great low impact exercise.

Treadmill: I’m not a large fan of the treadmill, but a whole lot of men and women can perform intense intervals by using one. I just don’t like the notion of trying to select an suitable speed which will enable me to sprint but not fall off. That being said, just like running, you’ll burn calories here once you can perform an adequately intense workout.

Resistance Training: studies have shown that resistance training actually burns far more calories than cardio. The challenge is that most cardio exercises could be performed longer than resistance training exercises. This kind of training could consist of weight lifting, bodyweight exercises, circuit training, or even kettlebells.

Classes: not actually an exercise per say, but things like spinning, step aerobics, Zoomba along with other group activities involve some difficult, but fun workouts.

Yoga: I don’t have sufficient experience with yoga to give an opinion, but I’ve read about forms of yoga that may be somewhat intense.

I hope that these exercises deliver enough range to assist you craft your own workout. I also realize that most people do not enjoy cardio but hope that at the least one of these exercises is appealing enough for you to perform frequently. That type of consistent, intense workout is what will make these the very best cardio exercises to lose weight.

Best Hockey Skates for Men Learning to Skate?

Question by mrsmikebo: Best Hockey Skates for Men Learning to Skate?
Hi,

My husband and I just moved into a house that has a pond close by and he’s finally learning to skate at 28. He has very flat fee and tells me as a kid the cheaper ice skates really bothered his feet. Does anyone have a recommendation for skates that are worth the investment so he enjoys learning and is comfortable? Thank you!

Answer by Sean S
If he’s just learning, I wouldn’t go out and spend a fortune. Bauer makes a good skate, even some of the lower end ones. Most skates today (unlike the ones he wore as a kid) are designed to mould to your foot. I suggest taking the new skates, and heating them up slightly (in the oven or with a hot hair-dryer). Then have him wear them for 30 minutes or so while watching TV or something (careful not to damage your floor). The gels inside the skate should mould to the shape of his foot, making them more comfortable while he skates.

what ice skates are best for kids?

Answer by wintermag52
theres double-bladed skates and also ones that you can add onto shoes for young children and beginngers.
depending on the level they’re at you can get the cheaper ones like $ 20-30 just so they can learn to skate and have fun. or if they’re at a higher level, you can think about getting them skates with more ankle support and stuff.
remember that kids’ feet grow fast so make sure you can afford them down the line if they were to continue skating

Ice skates or ice hockey boots ?????? Wots best ?

Question by : Ice skates or ice hockey boots ?????? Wots best ?
Hired ice skates up to now – been about 6 times. Thinking of buying my own.

I like the look of ice hockey boots, but they are smooth at the front and not ‘spiked’ like the hire skates. The black leather ice skates that for sale on the web {£60 ish} and in shops have the front spikes, but look a bit naff compared to {spikeless} ice hockey boots – much the same money – just wanna do general skating with the kids – nowt flash. wot do u think? For general skating- no glitz, glam, spins, or jumps, go for the hockey skates. The ice skates have that “spikey thing”- a toe pick because they are made for spinning and jumping…. so I would go for hockey skates
