Question by smokey: Do you think the winter olympics are basically for rich kids?
I just read today that the first black person won a gold medal in the Winter Olympics and it furthered my suspicions that the Olympics are just a bunch of rich kids……who else is able to devote their life to skiing and ice skating? I realize that there area few exception. What are your thoughts..

Figure Skating Special Olympics 2008 Illinois Lauren Miller-kids with Down Syndrome

Lauren competed in the 2008 Special Olympics Winter Games in Galena. Lauren has Down Syndrome. She had moved up to Level 2 from Level 1 this year and was the youngest Level 2 skater. She won a Silver medal ranking second in Level 2.

Special Olympic athletes will compete in 25 different Olympic-type and demonstration sports such as: Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cricket, Cycling, Dragon Boat Racing, Equestrian, Football (Soccer), Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Kayaking, Lion Dancing, Powerlifting, Roller Skating, Sailing, Softball, Table Tennis, Team Handball, Tennis and Volleyball, as well as Motor Activities Training Program.

Artistic roller skating/ Roller figure skating for the Olympics!

Please, read this description. Forgive me for the bad quality. I got this videos from skaters that posted them on Youtube but I added anotations to credit them. I did this video to promote artistic roller skating, this sport really should be in the summer Olympics. THESE VIDEOS ARE NOT MINE, I DO NOT OWN THEM. THE RESPECTIVE OWNERS ARE NAMED IN THE VIDEO (in the anotations). Song: Seasons of Love by Shiny Toy Guns I DON’T OWN THIS SONG. Okay… I was doing some research and I found out something very disapointing for us, roller skaters… www.rollersports.org If not in 2016, maybe later!!! But hey, what really matters is the love for skating and to get more recognision for this sport! ARTISTIC ROLLER SKATING NEEDS MORE PUBLICITY. And I believe that it starts with us, roller skaters. Lots of people don’t even know this sport exists. Let’s use our imaginations and show it to the world! We can start with Youtube, upload ARS videos and get the most views you can! Let’s try to make the championships (such has the World’s) have more people watching there and maybe play on tv and have good audience (like figure skating). Let’s try!!!!
