Let’s Skate! New Roller Rink Opens Doors on September 28

Port Orchard, WA (PRWEB) September 20, 2006

SK8TOWN is proud to open its doors on September 28, celebrated with a ribbon cutting at 6 p.m.. The ribbon cutting will include city officials and the Port Orchard Chamber of Commerce. “The community has been eagerly awaiting the completion of this building and we are ready to have our floors put to the test,” says Leo Hughes, owner of SK8TOWN.

The facility boasts over 23,000 square feet for family fun including the roller rink, arcade, pool table and inflatables for tots (coming soon). Marisa Barlow, Events Coordinator, states, “We hope to see this community utilize the space for whatever they can imagine. The facility is designed for skating and so much more. The new generation floors are made of a high density, super endurance plastic that will accommodate all kinds of sporting and high impact events, trade shows, dances and concerts.” ????

In addition to the rink, this will become the site for a premier events center for weddings, corporate venues, seminars, classes, dances, family reunions and large gatherings of all kinds. The private events center will have an upscale private entrance, an elevator and air conditioning. Between what Sk8town has to offer and the extended use of the conference and private-party rooms the venue is something much needed in the Kitsap Peninsula and the growing Port Orchard community. Hughes states passionately, “Our mission is to provide safe, family-oriented entertainment services to our community. We want the kids to have fun, and their parents to be confident about the environment we provide.”

Roller Skating has been around since the first recorded roller skate in 1760. But it wasn’t until 1863, when James Plimpton, a businessman from Massachusetts, invented a roller skate that could turn. Since then, skating has been a pastime shared by both men, women, by children of all ages. Sk8town will appeal to all ages with general skating, FREE classes on Saturdays for beginners, roller hockey leagues, TGIF Friday specials, Super Family Skate Sunday, and many classes from line dancing to yoga (no skates required for these).

Please RSVP if you plan to attend the Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening. Skating will be free (while skates last). All Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for this event. SK8TOWN is located in the Bethel Center at 1501 Piperberry Way, Port Orchard, WA 98366. For more information contact Marisa Barlow at 360-871-4765 or log on to http://www.sk8townpo.com for schedules and classes.

Teacup Piggies Ice Rink Champions Playset from ToyTeck

See the full review at www.timetoplaymag.com Last year ToyTeck introduced Teacup Piggies, a line of cute and interactive miniature toy pigs that love to play and be at home in teacups. Inspired by the trend of having real miniature pigs as pets, the line continues to expand this year with new pigs, play patterns, and playsets, including the Ice Rink Champions Playset. This comes with Crystal the pig and a pretend ice rink. When you turn the dial, music plays and Crystal slides across the “ice”. Kids can even make Crystal spin. Press the button to make fake snow rise and fall in the background of the ice rink. Crystal is interactive, so when you touch her nose or back, she makes pig noises and says different phrases. Crystal also responds to sound. Accessories include a pair of regular shoes for Crystal (Her ice skates are removable.), a bench, a lamppost, and a championship cup and gold medal.

Mayweather Jr. in More Trouble: Accused of Assault, Again

The legal troubles continue for Floyd Mayweather Jr. According to a report in the Las Vegas Review Journal, Mayweather was accused of assault with a deadly weapon for trying to force another vehicle off the road. The paper obtained a Las Vegas police incident report. The reports states the incident took place on Monday. Mayweather has not been arrested.

The accuser is a familiar name. 26-year-old Quincey Williams, a former Mayweather acquaintance and employee, claims that he was driving his Mazda on Arville Road, near Spring Mountain Road, when Mayweather, driving a white Bentley, made a U-turn and “tried to run him off the road.” The Bentley did not strike Williams’ vehicle.

Williams is a familiar name to some because he was the same victim from the August 2009 shooting incident at a Las Vegas roller skating rink. Mayweather associate Ocie Harris was indicted on two felonies, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, in connection with the shooting.

On August 23, 2009, Williams told authorities Mayweather threatened his life at the Crystal Palace Skating Center in Las Vegas, over a text message that was sent weeks earlier. Williams wrote in the text message that he hoped Mayweather would lose his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.

When Williams left the skating rink, Harris, who was Mayweather’s bodyguard at the time, opened fire on Williams’ BMW. The car was hit six times. Williams told police that he didn’t know Harris before the incident, and made allegations that Mayweather ordered the shooting.

Williams said Tuesday that he’s lived in fear since the shooting incident.

“He (Mayweather) feels like he’s entitled to do whatever he wants and get away with it. He wants to walk around and intimidate people like he’s some type of thug,” Williams was quoted by the paper.

If the new accusation is found to be valid, a Las Vegas justice of the peace could revoke Mayweather’s bail in his ongoing domestic violence case, where he’s facing several felony charges in connection with a September domestic violence incident with the mother of his three children, Josie Harris. Earlier this month, Mayweather was accused of misdemeanor battery by a security guard at the Southern Highlands development. Mayweather was accused of poking the security guard several times in the face following a confrontation over a parking citation.

In December 2003, Harris claimed Mayweather assaulted her outside a nightclub during an argument, but at the July 2005 trial Harris went back on her story and told the jury that “she lied” about the beating. In 2002, Mayweather pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor domestic violence charges. In 2005, he was convicted in the unprovoked beating of two women in the Ra nightclub at Luxor. He received a suspended one-year jail sentence.

Hey JP you think its funny how Mayweather poked a security guard after he saw Manny destroy Margarito the man he avoided for years. Now after seeing Martinez whoop a fellow “sleek” African American fighter and calling him out he puts the final blow on his boxing career by ensuring he goes to jail for a long time. Coincidence? I don’t think so.

He really wants to ensure that he goes to jail rather than fight Pacquiao. LOL.
Edit:
@Yoda
It’s not about the Mazda. It’s about trying to harm and kill the Mazda’s driver. You’re funny you make me laugh.
@Truth
Yeah, Floyd Jr. so funny for being that s+up1d
