Reading, PA (PRWEB) October 5, 2007

- GK/Elite Sportswear, L.P. is proud to have outfitted TEAM USA Gymnastics in competitive leotards and apparel for the 2007 Special Olympics World Games in Shanghai, China. USA Head Coach Renee Manworren, and team of 9 women and 2 men and staff, will compete at the Special Olympics World Games from Oct. 2-11th in GK’s Special Fit leotards.

GK Elite Sportswear has been working with Special Needs athletes, coaches and clubs for over a year and a half to develop a special fit for women’s and men’s competitive apparel and warm-ups.

There was an unquestionable need to develop a special fit for this market. Sallie Weaver, President of Elite Sportswear commented, “Developing a special fit for athletes with disabilities has long been a dream of mine. It has literally been on my ‘wish list’ for over 8 years. The special needs gymnastics market is not a very large market, but it’s a market that deserves to have gymnastics apparel that fits. I am extremely proud that we have accomplished our goal of being able to offer a special fit for these athletes. They have enough obstacles to overcome daily, having to get a leotard that fits should not be one of them.”

“Special Olympics coaches from across the country contacted me regarding sports specific apparel as soon as I was named head coach. They wanted me to assure them that our athletes would represent the United States with the dignity and elegance only the highest quality leotard company could promise,” Head Coach Renee Manworren commented. “Debbie Clay and the staff at GK Elite were incredible. They met every deadline and rushed to get our athletes fit to the perfection gymnastics demands. I asked for glamorous and they delivered.”

This is the first time that the Special Olympic World Summer Games has been held in Asia, and the second time held outside of the US. Almost 7,500 athletes will attend and will be joined by 40,000 volunteers and 3,500 event officials. Special Olympic athletes will compete in 25 different Olympic-type and demonstration sports such as: Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cricket, Cycling, Dragon Boat Racing, Equestrian, Football (Soccer), Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Kayaking, Lion Dancing, Powerlifting, Roller Skating, Sailing, Softball, Table Tennis, Team Handball, Tennis and Volleyball, as well as Motor Activities Training Program.

For over 25 years GK has outfitted many of the World’s top athletes in apparel featuring superior styling and quality. Topshop and Teenage Cancer Trust Unite for Summer Bandstands Picnics Throughout the UK in June

London, UK (PRWEB) June 3, 2010

Every day in the UK six young people are told they have cancer. Being a teenager is tough enough without having to deal with a serious illness that takes away your normal life at home, at school and with friends. Young people often feel isolated when facing a cancer diagnosis and rarely meet others going through the same experience. Teenage Cancer Trust believe that teenagers shouldn’t stop being teenagers because they have cancer and build specialist units in NHS hospitals where young people can be treated together, in an environment suited to their needs.

Throughout the month of June, Topshop has joined up with the Teenage Cancer Trust to help raise money through a host of special events and by selling dedicated product instores and online. The product lines consist of a bespoke print head scarf, kaftan and bag designed exclusively for Teenage Cancer Trust, as well as friendship bracelets which reflect the summer trends – a percentage of all sales goes to Teenage Cancer Trust.

The unique outdoor Bandstand Picnics will be hosted around the UK in June featuring many up-and-coming music artists such as electric trio Chew Lips, Welsh indie-popsters Los Campesinos and the hotly tipped Summer Camp, plus pop-rockers I Blame Coco.

All events will take place in the loveliest green spaces in London, Bristol, Liverpool and Birmingham and will be transformed into classic picnic style areas. To complement the picnic theme, Native Faces – a London based Face painting company – will provide festival decoration using Topshop Make Up. Sk8 House roller skates will also be available to hire, while sports day games will take place for amazing prizes. There’s a special sun-shaded area where you’ll be able to relax with sun cream on hand.

Drink and refreshments will be on sale by Lola’s kitchen and Vitamin Water, alongside one-off Topshop/Teenage Cancer Trust rain ponchos. Tickets will be on sale from 21st May in London, Bristol, Liverpool and Birmingham, with all proceeds going to Teenage Cancer Trust.

Further to hosting the event, Topshop will branch out to selected stores across the UK with a series of instore events to raise money. Chosen stores will have a mix of raffles, karaoke film booths and prizes to get your hands on.

In addition to the activities throughout the campaign period neon rose pink picnic blankets will also be given away as a Gift with Purchase with all orders worth ?60 or more instore and online. Blankets are only available while stocks last – terms and conditions apply.

Summer vacation in San Francisco,CA?

Question by Lols: Summer vacation in San Francisco,CA?
I live in the Bay Area, closer to San Francisco, Daly City, and Colma. Summer vacation just started and I was wondering, what are some fun things to do in those three cities? I’m already volunteering at a day camp on tuesdays, wednesdays, and thursdays. I could always change the schedule for an event. I’m already going ice skating at yerba buena, shopping with a friend at stonestown galleria, and movies. You can suggest movies again but a specific movie please. I would like something that’s cheap, but still fun. Maybe even for free. Some ideas I already had were….
-bowling
-the beach
-exploratorium
-a picnic at GGP

Also, are bonfires illegal now or something? or is that only on beaches?

Thanks for your time to answer my question. Btw, I’m around 13-16. I’m not going to give out my full age for security reasons icon smile Summer vacation in San Francisco,CA?
Preferably somewhere in SF, Daly City, or Colma since I don’t have a cell phone. If I get lost or something past these cities, I won’t know how to get back. And no, I will not ask some random stranger for his/her phone to use >:D
