What is a good brand for casual ice skating?

Question by : What is a good brand for casual ice skating?
Hi, I am interested in a pair of ‘figure’ skates. I’m just using them for casual skating with friends and family. I am 13 years old, so my feet will probably still grow.

Also, I have smaller than average feet, and I want a brand that looks like women’s skates, not little kid skates that have princesses and sparkles on them. I want them to have decent support, but I have no specific requirements for the blades.

I am not taking lessons, so I won’t be jumping or doing any tricks.

Thank you for your help! Under 100 dollars would be good, my parents are buying. icon razz What is a good brand for casual ice skating?

You’re not going to get a quality pair of figure skates that will last you for a while for under $ 100, you’re looking at $ 150 or so. Jacksons are a good brand, and so are Riedells, but you’ll need to be fitted properly at a pro shop in your area. Look up “figure skating store” or “pro shop” and your city in google, and you should be able to find one. If not, call an ice rink and ask if they have a pro shop or if there is one in your city. They can recommend a model for you at the pro shop, and you can be fitted properly there.

I’d suggest a Riedell 113 or a Riedell 115. The 115 is about $ 100 and the 113 is around $ 40-50. The 115 is a bit more supportive, but the 113 is more recreational. You may like the feel of one over the other, so go to your local pro shop to get fitted!
